Nando’s Peri Peri Sauces
I had a chance recently to try some new hot sauces and am happy to share them with you. The maker is Nando’s, better known for the restaurants around Washington DC with a rich Portuguese history and a specialty with chicken. Now the restaurant has branched into the ever-growing hot sauce world, and their entries are very good, in my opinion.

A Spicy Chocolate Scorpion Salsa
If you’ve ever tasted a chocolate scorpion chili pepper, the first thing you’ll notice is the intense heat. Scorpions are known for their heat and can run from around 300,000 SHU to well over 1 Million SHU, depending on the variety. They are also slightly bitter, though most retain that chili pepper fruity-sweet quality that makes them excellent for cooking. They’re also a flaring type of heat with an intense blast once you give a taste, as opposed to the warming heat that grows with peppers like the habanero or 7-Pot.
