'Top Chef' recap: A Matter of Taste

Anyone watch Top Chef? How could the pairing of jalapeno chips with sweet corn panna cotta not resonate with the judges? Are they nuts? They're jalapenos! I'm smelling some sort of conspiracy.

Announcing - Seafood Madness

Seafood Madness

Do you enjoy seafood? We've always loved seafood of all types, so we've expanded our Madness series of web sites to Seafoodmadness.com, a site dedicated to seafood cooking and information. The site is still growing, and we'd love your help. Check it out and send along any suggestions for recipes, or send in the recipes yourselves.

Our goal is to provide information and recipes on some of the most common and popular dishes people seek for for their favorite seafood, but to also provide interesting, unique, and easy-to-make (yet delicious) recipes you can make at home. We have a number of recipes there now, dedicated to crab, lobster, shrimp, tilapia, salmon, mahi mahi, and more.

We hope Seafood Madness will be as popular and helpful as our other Madness sites.

Time to Think About Preserving

Now that Fall is officially here and the gardens are winding down in our part of the world, we know you're thinking about preserving your chili peppers. Check out our preserving information at these links below:

We just preserved a load of peppers from our garden - we had a pretty good year but the wonky weather in the Midwest did take a toll. Grandma says it's the worst year she's ever seen from gardening, and she's been gardening a long time! Ah, well. We still have quite a few and they should last us a few months.

The new pickling recipe is posted over at Chili Pepper Madness, but here is the photo.

New Preserving Recipe - Sweet Honeyed Pickled Chili Peppers

New Preserving Recipe - Sweet Honeyed Pickled Chili Peppers

Got a load of chili pepper this year? A bumper crop? Here's a quick and easy way to preserve them.

This shouldn't take you more than an hour to set up. The honey will make them a bit sweet. We used jalapeno peppers, Serrano peppers (both red and green), and cayenne peppers this time around, but you can add in other types of chili peppers. We also added in carrots for additional color and flavor, but they are not required.
