Spicy Turkey Chili with Jalapeno Peppers
Get your "chili" on with this spicy turkey chili, made with ground turkey, bacon, roasted red peppers and roasted jalapeno peppers and more. We like beans with our chili, but if you're a Texan purist, leave them out or serve them on the site. It is nice and meaty without the beans.
Ingredients
- 20 ounces ground turkey
- 6 slices bacon
- 1 bell pepper, roasted and chopped
- 2 onions, chopped
- 4 jalapeno peppers, roasted and chopped
- 4 cloves roasted garlic, chopped
- 2 15-ounce cans tomato sauce
- 1 15-ounce can red kidney beans
- 3 heaping tablespoons red chili powder
- 1 cup of your favorite salsa
- 3 tablespoons Masa for thickening
Cooking Directions
- Heat a large pot to medium heat and add bacon. Cook about 12 minutes, or until bacon is cooked through and begins to crisp.
- Remove bacon from heat and set onto paper towels to drain.
- Reserve about half of the bacon grease and add onions. Cook about 5 minutes, or until onion becomes translucent.
- Add ground turkey and cook about 8 minutes, breaking it apart constantly, or until turkey is cooked through.
- Crumble bacon and add to the pot. Add remaining ingredients except for the Masa. Stir and cook about 1 hour.
- Stir in Masa flour. Cook another 30 minutes to allow chili to thicken.
- Serve!
