Tuna with Red-Wine Sauce ala Jalapeno
A close friend gave us a pair of delicious tuna steaks so we explored some fun and interesting ways to serve them up for lunch. This is an easy one that offers fresh vegetables and Italian seasonings, and don't forget the red wine. The inclusion of the pasta water brings it altogether.

Tuna with Red-Wine Sauce ala Jalapeno
Ingredients
- 2 4-ounce tuna steaks
- 4 jalapeno peppers, sliced
- 2 Roma tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup pasta shells
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasonings
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/4 cup pasta water
Cooking Directions
- Cook shells according to package specifications.
- Heat a large saute pan to medium heat.
- Add olive oil and tuna steaks.
- Cook for 2 minutes. Then flip and cook another 2 minutes to sear each side.
- Add jalapenos, tomatoes and lemon juice. Cook about 1 minute.
- Reduce heat to low and add Italian seasoninings, garlic and red wine.
- Allow wine to reduce by about 1/2.
- Add 1/4 cup pasta water reserved from your pasta shells.
- Mix well.
- Serve over the shells.
