Turkey Meatballs in Chipotle Yogurt Sauce

Time for turkey meatballs! Turkey meatballs are far from boring when you include plenty of jalapeno peppers, and this flavorful chipotle yogurt sauce. Give it a try. These are extra juicy with just the right amount of pop and zing.

Turkey Meatballs in Chipotle Yogurt Sauce


  • 12 ounces ground turkey
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped
  • ½ small onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons panko
  • For the Chipotle Yogurt Sauce
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 chipotles in adobo sauce
  • Juice from 1 lime + some of the zest
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil + more as needed
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. For the Meatballs - Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Heat a pan to medium heat and add a bit of olive oil. Add onion and jalapeno. Cook about 5 minutes to soften.
  3. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Remove from heat and cool. Add to a mixing bowl.
  4. To the mixing bowl, add ground turkey, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, Parmesan cheese, milk and panko.
  5. Salt and pepper to taste. Hand mix, but do not overmix or they will become mushy.
  6. Form the turkey mixture into 12 equal sized meatballs – 1 ounce each.
  7. Set onto a baking sheet and lightly brush with olive oil.
  8. Bake about 10 minutes, or until turkey is cooked through.
  9. For the sauce, combine yogurt, chipotle, lime juice and olive oil. Add to a food processor and process until smooth.
  10. Add lime zest and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  11. Serve yogurt sauce into flat serving dishes and add in 3 to 4 meatballs.
  12. Top with extra cilantro and lime zest as desired.
  13. Serve!
